Our Story
We’re a group of residents living in the idyllic mountaintop village of Hogsback in the Eastern Cape. We’ve landed up here for various reasons, be it the charm of village life, or a deep resonance with a life lived a little slower and closer to our natural surrounds such as the forests, waterfalls and the hiking trails of the Amathole mountains.
Besides calling this mountaintop forest home, we all share a love and passion for homesteading as a way to live self-sufficiently and sustainably, in harmony with the environment.
This autumn, from 5th October to the 11 October - we invite you to join us for a week-long immersive and practical learning experience in our verdant hamlet.
Over those five days, you’ll visit multiple operating homesteads and learn first hand from our homesteaders. You’ll learn and practice the foundational principles for permaculture, compost-making from a berry farmer, sourdough bread baking, cheesemaking and growing mushrooms.
This immersive course will be a transformative experience that will not only equip you with the knowledge and skills towards greater self-sufficiency, it will also enrich your journey towards taking control of your and your family’s nutrition and wellbeing.
