About the course

Gwyneth & Liyanda from Starways pottery will introduce you to the beautiful world of handmade clay pottery. Make some drape moulds & try your hand at throwing clay on a spinning wheel. This is one of the few wood fired kilns in South Africa. It is a special experience to craft your very own flatware.

Current Resident Potters at Starways are Liyanda Mafika and Gwyneth Lloyd. Starways Pottery was founded in 1992 by internationally recognised potter, Anton van der Merwe, who is generally known for his Anglo-Japanese influenced stoneware. However, new directions are constantly being explored by the resident and visiting potters, who bring new ideas and creativity to the arts centre.
